China's withdraw of subsidies helps recovery of ceramic industry in Indian Morbi(4/14/2010)
One year ago, focused on saurashtra of morbi-thangadh ceramic industry in Gujarat region face serious problems. However, this situation has improved since early November 2009, because China's policy changes in ceramic industry has helped the Indian ceramic industry recovere and 45 new companies have settled in the morbi-thangadh area. Output of 650 ceramic enterprises in this region accounts for 70 percent of ceramic output in India.
A series of incentives and China's withdraw of subsidies helps Indian ceramic manufacturers have the ability to compete in international markets. As well, compared to last year, India's ceramic's export quota from the second quarter doubled.
Karshanadroja, Morbi's President of Ceramic Tile Manufacturer Association, said: "promoted by the international and domestic demand, the ceramic industry has been growing. India's emerging real estate market has also provided a solid platform for domestic ceramics market and has increased export. Reduced demand of Chineseceramic products has opened foreign markets for Indian ceramic industry.
Marketing, ceramictile company Itallica's director saileshvasani, said: "With the lifting of stimulate and subsidies by Chinese government in energy and raw materials, many Indian manufacturers profit. Chinese products always take advantage by low prices. But now, India's products have brought them a lot of competitive pressure. "
